Sock packaging — the details that matter

A retail peg, a multipack and an online gift box serve different needs. Define how the product will be displayed, shipped and opened. Packaging should protect the product while presenting the information your customer needs.

Make artwork production-ready

Provide final logos, copy, colour references and dimensions. Confirm composition, care and size information before approving print artwork. Barcode ownership and data should be checked by your brand; a visible code is useful only when the underlying information is correct.

Coordinate product and presentation

Knitted branding, labels and wraps should feel like one collection. Review the placement and legibility of the brand mark at actual size. Packaging quantities, pair counts and carton marks belong in the same order specification.

Material and disposal claims

Choose packaging materials with your market and handling needs in mind. Avoid unsupported recyclability or environmental claims. Where a specific packaging standard is required, share it before material selection and approval.

Design for the way the product is sold

A hanging retail display, an online single-pair order and a multipack can require different packaging formats. Identify the sales channel and how the customer will handle or compare the product. Provide the proposed wrap, label or box dimensions and discuss how the sock will be folded. A packaging reference should show both its visual design and the practical information needed to reproduce the intended presentation.

Prepare the information panel carefully

Confirm the product name, fibre composition, size, care instructions, barcode and any market-specific details. If several products share one packaging layout, define which fields change between variants. Review artwork at actual size so small text remains legible. The product code on the label should match the technical pack and order breakdown. This makes stock handling and repeat orders easier to manage across similar colourways or sizes.

Check brand artwork against the production method

Knitted logos, printed wraps and other branding elements use different production methods and may require different artwork preparation. Supply vector files where possible and identify approved colours and placement. Review the knitted result on a physical sample. Avoid assuming that a fine line or small word will reproduce identically on fabric and paper. Approve each relevant element as part of the complete product.

Confirm claims and carton instructions

Certification seals or performance descriptions require the relevant permissions and evidence. Check these before approving the retail artwork. Add your carton quantities, assortment rules, shipping marks and any warehouse labelling needs to the packing brief. If the order includes several size or colour combinations, state whether they should be packed separately or in defined assortments. Clear instructions help keep the finished order aligned with the way your business will receive and sell it.

Plan your manufacturing brief

Share your intended use, target customer, material preferences, size range and quantity. Minimum orders start at 1,000 pairs; the design, colour and size allocation is confirmed during quotation. Specify your destination market and required testing so the project can be reviewed as a complete product.

Use our manufacturing inquiry form, explore private label production or read the sock tech pack guide. For compliance information see quality and certifications.

For the official explanation of textile harmful-substance testing, see OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100. Programme information does not replace reviewing the current certificate and product scope for your order.

Confirm your sock packaging alongside the approved product sample. Keep the sock packaging artwork, barcode information and carton instructions under the same product code so the final packing brief can be reviewed against the order.
